Tony Cai, CEO of BCG, and Peter Busby, the lead IOCO Lands architect, have a vision. Together, they see a sustainable and innovative community that everyone can be proud of. Tony grew up in Vancouver where he attended elementary and high school before graduating from SFU. He then pursued additional studies at Beijing University and at the Said Business School at Oxford University. He is leading the IOCO Lands Project Team and has several other projects underway in Metro Vancouver.
Tony sees the IOCO Lands as an opportunity to create a sustainable and innovative community which will benefit current and future generations. Peter has been a driving force in building and community design in Metro Vancouver for over 33 years and is a recognized leader in North America for designing sustainable communities. Peter created the Sustainable Design Initiative, a framework for excellence in sustainable design. He was also founder and past Chair of the Canada Green Building council, and initiated the development of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in Canada. Recent projects include the award-winning master-planned and sustainable communities of Dockside Green in Victoria and Chaudière in Ottawa. Peter has been widely recognized for his work in advancing sustainable design, including a designation as a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a member (C.M.) of the Order of Canada.
The new IOCO Lands Project Team has been expanded in response to the aspirations and feedback participants shared in the 2015 public consultation. The IOCO Lands Project Team is committed to fully exploring and understanding the opportunities, concerns, and benefits of this project prior to developing an inspiring master-planned proposal.
BCG Developments (BCG), owner of the IOCO lands site, is based in Vancouver and owned by CEO Tony Cai. BCG has several other projects underway in Metro Vancouver with a vision to create innovative, sustainable and meaningful projects that will benefit current and future generations.
Architecture & Design
Perkins+Will is the architectural team that will engage with the community and stakeholders to plan and design the IOCO Lands community, led by renowned Vancouver architect Peter Busby. Perkins+Will specializes in buildings, homes and communities that reflect the local context, history, cultures, communities, and the natural environment.
Planning & Design
Larry Beasley has won local and international awards and acknowledgment for his planning and urban design contributions and expertise. A retired Co-director of Planning for the City of Vancouver, he now teaches and advises on master-planning around the world. Larry is a Member of the Order of Canada and has also received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his outstanding work.
Donald Luxton & Associates Inc. is the foremost cultural and heritage resource management firm in Western Canada. Donald Luxton is advising BCG Developments on the conservation and adaptive re-use of the significant heritage buildings located on the IOCO Lands.
AquaTerra Environmental Ltd. is an environmental consulting firm based in Port Moody, BC, offering a wide variety of assessment, monitoring, and management services. AquaTerra specializes in both aquatic and terrestrial disciplines, with extensive experience in watercourse assessments, baseline studies, fish and wildlife (e.g., migratory bird) studies, invertebrate analysis, physiochemical water parameter sampling, species-at-risk management and monitoring, mitigation measure effectiveness monitoring, invasive species management, and habitat enhancement design.
PFS Studio will lead the design and planning of landscape and public open space network for the IOCO Lands community. A Vancouver-based urban design and landscape architecture firm, PFS Studio has received awards and significant recognition for its innovative and thoughtful approach to creating memorable and engaging
Archineers Consulting is an engineering design and sustainability consulting firm based in BC. We are working with the IOCO Lands team in providing a whole systems approach for proposals to be considered in the context of the natural site setting and the wider sustainability goals.
Blair McCarry Consulting (BMC) is a local consulting engineering firm with significant experience in high performance, sustainable buildings and community developments. BMC is working with the IOCO Lands team to develop sustainable options for the IOCO Lands development appropriate for the local conditions and community.
